How a WWE Last Man Standing match ends

Analysis

WWE's Last Man Standing match has no pinfall, no submission, and no disqualification. It ends when a wrestler cannot get up before a count of 10, and a draw leaves a title with the champion.

A WWE Last Man Standing match does not end on a pinfall or a submission. WWE's history of the match says it continues, with no disqualifications, until one wrestler cannot get to their feet before a count of 10.

The rules WWE has published

WWE's Extreme Rules 2013 page states the stipulation directly. There are no disqualifications, count outs, pinfalls, or submissions. The way to win is to leave an opponent unable to answer the referee's count of 10.

WWE's Extreme Rules 2011 results put the same rule in one sentence. Anything goes, there are no count outs, and the wrestler who does not answer the official's count of 10 loses. On that show, CM Punk did not get up before the count, and Randy Orton won.

That finish is different from an ordinary match. On the October 26 Raw, Becky Lynch defeated Women's World Champion Liv Morgan by disqualification, WWE's Raw results said. A Last Man Standing match does not end that way.

If neither wrestler gets up

WWE has ruled the match a draw when both wrestlers stay down through the count. Its Backlash 2007 results say that in a draw, the championship leaves the same way it arrived, with the champion. On that show, neither Undertaker nor Batista answered the count, and Undertaker kept the World Heavyweight Championship.

WWE's history page describes the same kind of finish at Royal Rumble 2004. Shawn Michaels and Triple H were both still down at the count of 10, the match was a no contest, and Triple H kept the World Heavyweight Championship.

The next one WWE has booked

WWE has booked Cody Rhodes against Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match at Crown Jewel on Saturday, November 7, at noon ET, on the Crown Jewel preview. WWE says the show is in Riyadh. In the United States it streams on the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited plan, and on Netflix internationally. The other announced matches are in RingZine's Crown Jewel match card.

This is an explanation of a published match type. It is not a pick for who wins on November 7.
